Everquest

Full Run of VT

Milestones, the things that set specific moments in your life. Today was one of those milestones for a lot of people in Sceptered Isle. Today's milestone was the raid of Vex Thal, Start to Finish. The following reports contains everything ranging from the mobs that were killed, through to the loot they dropped, and also throwing in a bit of humour that keeps SI so much alive.

Question: How many Mages does it take to change a light bulb?
Answer: None, they're all in Vex Thal dieing!

When you log in for the evening and see most people in one zone then that is where you head off to. By instinct you know there is a raid going on and whether or not you are needed you head there just to help out if you can. What made this much more of a worry was the fact that this Reporter was also the only Officer online. This meant that a lot of the people would turn to him to loot allocation. Now loot allocation is never the easiest of things to do at anytime, but when all decisions fall on one person it can be very bewildering. Throwing his fears off into the wind, it was a VT raid and a place that was enjoyable to see as well as learn new things in each visit.

Upon arriving the rest of the raid was already setting up for Diabo Xi Xin, Master of Shadows.

The night was early and there was so much most of SI still had to learn. Without much notice and before all were ready we had upon us Diabo Xi Xin. It quickly took out key people just a bit too soon.

Falamorn has been slain by Diabo Xi Xin!
Santur has been slain by Diabo Xi Xin!
Wendiren has been slain by Diabo Xi Xin!
Tholan has been slain by Diabo Xi Xin!
Thorgram has been slain by Diabo Xi Xin!
Estrosiath has been slain by Diabo Xi Xin!
Linaminu has been slain by Diabo Xi Xin!
Flumia has been slain by Diabo Xi Xin!
Bender has been slain by Diabo Xi Xin!

So the carnage continued and soon everyone was spawning at their bind points. All expect a few FD necro's and a camped cleric or two. Soon after the mob had gone back to its spawn spot it was time to get everyone rezzed and buffed up again.

This time, everyone prepared and under the careful instructions of Galifir and Sherezadu (along with the other helpful people in the raid leaders channel), Diabo Xi Xin was pulled once again. With the mobs arms, all four of them, swinging about it was very hard to find a place to stand at first, especially with all the armoury objects at the side of the corridor. As the battle time passed the mob was positioned in the corner for all to bash and slash until their stamina was all exhausted.

With no witty remarks in any language, Diabo Xi Xin fell to the floor, leaving a corpse full of valuable lootables.

One mob down and already 3 people ecstatic with their newly acquired items. And it wasn't so tough being the only officer online and taking tells for each of the items. Using all the available resources (siguild, compare, raid history, points, and a bit of common sense) the loot was awarded as fair as possible. Once this was all sorted it was onto the next spot ready for the next mob. Whilst the CotH was being setup this reporter gathered a sneak peek at how it was done.

Now onto the next mob. Diabo Xi Xin Thall, or Master of Shadows Sacred.

The mob came, SI engaged, the mob died. Once again leaving all his belongings behind.

It was now time to move onto the next section. Click this...

So up into the next section it was onto the next mob. Thall Va Kelun, Sacred Dark ...(something I haven't found a translation for.)

So off the raid force went, once again it was time to engage and complete the mission of slaying the TVK. However, just before this took place a few extra's arrived on the scene. Obviously keen to get an update on what had dropped so far. (See above)

So with the raid update done it was on further with the killing. TVK was obviously tougher than the previous mobs and of course the battle that took place took an age to complete. But it was all worth it in the end.

And so as the time was pressing on the raid decided to continue on and get as far as they could. The next mob to encounter was of course Thall Xundraux Diabo, Sacred Weapons Master. Surprise, surprise, SI took it down with great ease.

Sometimes people can get so excited that there is a waiting line for those wanting to loot their newly allocated items from the corpses.

Sherezadu begins to cast a spell.
Dalerian tells the raid, 'Grats Rengan on Hoop of Chaos'
Shadowpuma tells the raid, 'Grats Sherezadu on Great Cloak of Shadows'
Sherezadu's casting is interrupted!
--Rengan has looted a Hoop of Chaos.--
Sherezadu taps her foot as she looks at Rengan impatiently.
--Sherezadu has looted a Great Cloak of Shadows.--

Falamorn tells the raid, 'a little info now, 4 nameds left, and only 18 trash mobs'

But what Falamorn neglected to tell us is that some of these 18 trash mobs spawn spirits so in effect there could be double the amount of remaining mobs.

But regardless, Sceptered Isle raid force in Vex Thal continued on their merry way.

Grymbok says, 'err.. who is next? :)'
Estrosiath says, 'Mini AHR'
Eravion says, 'VXAHR'

So off we all went following the leader until we reach the place we are to fight Va Xi Aten Ha Ra, Shadow Of Aten Ha Ra. This was just a taste of what things awaited us at the end of our raiding experience. The Shadow of Aten Ha Ra was very much like the original but obviously a lot weaker. But no matter what, she was still as sexy as the original.

Farlig tried to use his grace and charm to win over this leather bound lass.
Farlig says, 'nice view from here'
Farlig is knocked into the air by a massive force.
Migar says, 'hope Farlig doesn't land on me....'
Migar was injured by Farlig falling.

Seems Dosi was also noticed to be admiring the sights.
Tholan says, 'Dosi ! less drool, more fight '

People were even getting flashbacks of when Orcman sent a giant flying over the walls of the Kael Arena with just a simple cast of Gravity Flux.

Speaking of which, it is no wonder Sceptered Isle have so much trouble with doors when even the guild leader can't click on one to open it.

Orcman tells the raid, 'need door opened - sorry'
Orcman tells the raid, 'shut just before i could get through'
After looking back and seeing a lone wizard stood behind the glass panelled door looking so helpless, like a little lost puppy, the door suddenly began to open.
Orcman tells the raid, 'nm'
Shadowpuma says, 'click it?'
Orcman says, 'yeah'

So back to the fight ... with the males still trying their luck and getting thrown backwards at each attempt it was soon all over once the female shadow fell to the ground.

It wasn't just males that got to loot her, females also got to strip the female shadow. Well with even more people happy with their new equipment, it was onwards and upwards. It was decided that the raid were going to kill all of the remaining 3 mobs. The time was getting on a bit and soon 00:30 had arrived. People were starting to talk about leaving after the next mob. A quick decision was made to head to the right first (orcman did a /random 100, even = left, odd = right) and begin battle with one of the blobs.

**A Magic Die is rolled by Orcman.**It could have been any number from 0 to 100, but this time it turned up a 39.

Along the way to the right the raid managed to kill an Eom Thall Xakra (Arch Sacred Spirit) and what should drop? a nice ring.

Kaas Thox Xi Aten Ha Ra, the Black Blood Of Aten Ha Ra, was next the firing line. As always, the mob was engaged with tanks gaining agro and rampage order along with rampage clerics and then everyone else to assist.

By now people were starting to get a bit tired and bored of the long battles that just seemed a bit too easy. After the mass of health points that this blob vanished it lay there on the floor gradually revealing hidden loot.

And so, it was a case of rinse and repeat for the other blob, Kaas Thox Xi Aten Ha Ra, the Black Blood Of Aten Ha Ra.

Now at 01:45 in the morning (some 7.5 hours since the start of the raid, and even 02:45 for others) and one last mob to kill everyone decided to stay and try our luck with the zone boss.

image: relative to the report
This is what we all came for, Aten Ha Ra

The raid prepared. Everyone buffed. All positions were set (even Farlig was looking up early and someone had supplied Dosi with a bucket for the drool). The time to engage was NOW!

Eravion tells the group, 'all come to the middle of her room'
Falamorn says, 'you can actually take 20 k in the middle of the room from the gflux'
Eravion tells the group, 'hehe scratch that'
Orcman tells the group, 'moving to wall'

With casters out of the AE range they were neither getting hit by the AE Silence, nor were they getting hit by the AE Gravity Flux. All was going well.

image: relative to the report

After a great raid and Aten Ha Ra grasping onto her last moments alive, the order was given to drag her out from the wall and into the centre of the room. With only 3% HP left it didn't take long before she was falling flat on her face.

This last item being part of a quest to obtain a very fancy neck item.

So with everyone happy with their new loot and raid points well spent throughout the evening (and well into the morning) it was time to have a guild memory moment, then leave.

image: relative to the report
Congratulations. Obviously SI have completed killing the zone boss, but not finished farming all the nice fancy item upgrades members truly need and deserve.

Falamorn's Speech

Falamorn tells the guild, 'CONGRATS SI, you have been amazing today. Be very proud now. You have now killed all Luclin big kills.'
